Politicians love banning things.  They know better than the public how to behave and they love to exercise power.  Whether drugs, sex or just walking on the grass, lets prohibit it.  

Here's a nice example from central London.  Sussex Gardens, in front of St James' Church.

The gardens are tiny, about 1/2 acre and beautifully maintained.  

But they are disfigured by innumerable prohibition signs.  

No dogs, no skateboarding, no drinking, no cycling, you name it, you can't do it in Sussex Gardens.  The council have even put up all the by-laws in small print.   I counted ten signs by one entrance alone.
