Cuckney Mill

In 1853 there were two large watermills on the river Poulter in Cuckney, one for cotton, another for corn. An earlier cotton mill had burnt down in 1792.

The upstream mill is now a primary school

The dam, millpond, sluices and weir remain

But the machinery has long gone.

In December 2005 Powergen the electricity supplier gave Cuckney school a £10,000 grant to install a water turbine generator.
