There used to be nine windmills along the edge of the Jurassic limestone escarpment to the west of Lincoln Castle.  One remains - Ellis Flour Mill.  

Even that only exists because of the efforts of a few charitable enthusiasts and the support of the local council - Wind power is an uneconomic way to grind flour.  

However, it looks lovely poking over the rooftops in that part of Lincoln.
