There used to be nine windmills along the edge of the Jurassic limestone escarpment to the west of Lincoln Castle. One remains - Ellis Flour Mill. Even that only exists because of the efforts of a few charitable enthusiasts and the support of the local council - Wind power is an uneconomic way to grind flour. However, it looks lovely poking over the rooftops in that part of Lincoln. It reminds me of Green's Mill in Nottingham. Click here. |
