Enviro energy

The Enviro-energy waste heat plant on London Road is partly owned by Nottingham City council.

It was built 50 years ago to power Boots’ factories,

Takes steam from the Eastcroft incinerator, uses some of it to drive a turbine to generate electricity, and converts some to hot water.  It sells the electricity to large customers.

and transfers the hot water via pipes to heat buildings in the city.

Customers include Victoria Baths, Nottingham Trent University’s Newton Building, the Inland Revenue building next to the canal, the National Ice Centre, Capital One’s Loxley House, the Magistrates’ Court and Bridewell and the Victoria and Broad Marsh Shopping Centres.

Enviro-energy also claim to have 4,600 domestic domestic customers in the Victoria Centre and in St Ann’s.  Despite this it makes a loss.
