Since the first Earth Day in 1970, environmental organizations have become increasingly vocal advocates of a "green" agenda in public policy debates. Supported by wealthy foundations and government grants, these tax-exempt groups orchestrate political, legal, and public relations campaigns that claim to "protect and improve the environment." But however well-intentioned their activism, it often misrepresents the real costs and dangers of their policy proposals. In fact, their proposals can even create new environmental problems. Green watch's mission is
to monitor these groups. The centerpiece of Green-Watch is a searchable database
of 538 groups that identifies the activities, leadership, and funding of
environmental groups. Click here to
read their summary on Greenpeace. Green-Watch also produces timely
news reports, analysis, and perspectives of the environmental movement,
highlighting in particular the top 20 largest green groups. Many free-market and
conservative organizations have extensive policy expertise in environmental
issues, but they don't have the time or inclination to do "opposition
research." The comparative advantage of Green-Watch is that this is their
mission. Click here to visit them |
