A lovely village on the Kyme Eau in Lincolnshire.

It's symbol is the Kingfisher.  In 1990 this seems to have led the council to commission a large wooden sculpture of one holding a fish from a fellow called Simon Todd.  It is called a New Sentinel sculpture, whatever that is.

The small carved posts along the banks probably have the same origin.

Hmmm?   Forcing people to pay for art, so that a council member or two can gain some credit.

It's not as if art would not flourish in South Kyme without council support.   This householder recently placed this kingfisher bas relief on a gable end to mark the house's age.  I prefer it.

But let's not carp.  The whole village is an artwork.  Here are some more pictures.

There is even a memorial to the Slea Navigation, which is slowly being restored.
