Just north of Oxford, this quarry is a lovely place to look for fossils.  The beds are from the Bathonian series in the middle Jurassic period about 150 millions years old.

From the M40 take the A34 at junction 9 south towards Oxford and after a couple of miles the B 4027 east.    Pass straight through the beautiful village of Islip.  The quarry entrance is a locked gate about two miles on the right.  Officially you need permission to enter but the quarry is not active.  I just walked in on an excellent track about 1/2 mile round one large field.

There are many echinoids, crinoids and brachiopods to find.   A stegosaurus has been recovered here.

Exposures of, I presume, old river gravel beds lie above the main rock beds.
